Pint of Science 2019
Pint of Science 2019 took place in Lincoln on May 20th – 22nd 2019. University of Lincoln staff and students took their research to the pubs of Lincoln as Pint of Science came to the city for the first time. 18 talks were given by 20 researchers across 3 evenings in 3 venues.
The Lion & Snake, Caffe Portico and The Pessimist welcomed members of the public to come and explore the discoveries of University of Lincoln researchers.
Talk topics included ‘Being a virtual patient – does it help?’, ‘Promoting optimal experiences in exercise: time to change our approach?’, ‘A byte of music’ and ‘Why does development before birth matter for childhood and adolescence?’.
Attendees rated the experience as a highly enjoyable event, with 97% of evaluation survey respondents saying they had learnt something new, 84% being inspired to find out more about the topics presented, and 99% wanting to attend similar events in the future.
For speakers, the evenings offered a space to explore research with a new audience and discover more about perspectives on their topics in an informal setting where audiences could ask questions. In a survey on the experience 100% of those speaking at the festiva l said they enjoyed the event and would recommend taking part to colleague. Lincoln’ s first ever Pint of Science festiva l took the city by storm, throwing open the doors to research and discovery for all to enjoy.
